Saul is the kind of builder that elicits immediate sympathy, respect, affection from everybody - his luhier peers, the artists he builds instruments for, all the fans who have one or more of his guitars or basses, even from all those who have only even just seen pictures of his beautiful creations.
Saul is endowed with some unique gifts, namely his artistic background, his quasi-geeky interest in guitars, his positive and human attitude, his perfectionist approach to building a guitar or bass - wether it's for the renown trad jazz player, for the avant-garde punk, or just for you and me.
All these motives are more than a good reason to bring Saul's creations over to Europe and to promote such a fine builder. Enjoy!!

Custom Creations
|
| |
Saul does not shy from taking on challenging and interesting projects.
Some notable examples are the Tornado, built for the electric / eclectic sonic adventurer David Torn (www.splattercell.org) - whose personal collaboration list features heavyweights such as Riuchi Sakamoto, David Bowie, David Sylvian - which now has become one of the bestselling production instruments.
Or the Jazzblaster, built for Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo, or the incredible Klein Electric inspired headless jazz guitar built originally for Ron Eschete and by now approaching 20 units sold (the last to such luminaries such as Elliot Sharp and John Stewart).
However custom one-offs* do take more time, as all the tooling needs to be prepared usually just for one item, so the bottom line is: if you can afford to be patient, you have the right kind of budget AND the specs of your ultimate guitar manage to tickle Saul's fancy you might indeed arouse his interest and get that unique piece to see the light in Portland, Oregon :-)
Note: production times in this category may be as long as 12 months. A 50% initial downpayment is mandatory, the remaining to be paid upon ompletion and before shipment.
* All of this does not apply to minor changes (colours, fretboard material, normal inlays, pickup combinations, etc) on regular production instruments, including archtops.
